Instructions
- Locate the belt routing diagram for your vehicle’s engine. This shows the path of the belt and location of pulleys.
- Locate the automatic tensioner pulley. This is often near the crankshaft pulley.
- Following tool instructions, insert tool into hole in tensioner pulley and rotate to decompress tensioner spring. This provides slack in the belt.
- With tension relieved, slip old belt off pulleys.
- Position the new belt over the accessory drive pulleys, such as the air conditioning, power steering, or alternator.
- Place the installation tool over the crankshaft pulley. Position the tool so that the wedge-shaped removed side fits between the belt and pulley.
- Use a hand ratchet to turn the crankshaft in the direction that will rotate the pulley. Guide the belt onto the pulley and ensure that the belt ribs are properly aligned.
- Slowly release tension on tool until spring tension is applied to belt. Remove tool.
- Confirm belt is seated correctly on all pulleys, especially the crankshaft and tensioner pulleys.
- Rotate engine via crank pulley clockwise twice to ensure proper operation.
- Start engine and check that belt is aligned and rotating properly.
- Test operation of AC system and other belt driven accessories.
ATTENTION: It’s not recommended to reuse an old stretch belt as they tend to lose tension with age.
